This course is designed as an introduction to safe work practices and is specifically relevant to a workplace requiring personnel to be involved in incidents, prescribed burns and/or operational aspects of emergency management.

This course applies to individuals who are required to identify and avoid workplace hazards and risks, to maintain personal safety and to report identified issues to supervisors and team members. It includes identifying, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of workplace hazards and risk control procedures.

Prerequisites

Student are required to be at least 18 years old to attend the course. There are no other prerequisites for enrolment in this course.

Entry Requirements

This course does require reading, writing and numeracy skills. To access the specific LLN form, students will prompted to complete the necessary pre-course assessments in the Allens Training student portal upon registration.

All students who enrol in this course must possess a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number with them.

To obtain a USI, please head to www.usi.gov.au and register. The process takes around 4 min to complete.

5th Point offers the nationally recognised course set – Confined Space Rescue, is a combination of five unit of competencies, delivered across two days, to businesses and individuals. Fully certified TAE Trainers with relevant industry experience deliver the course materials, ensuring that a wealth of experience underpins the training that we offer. Training and assessment delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.

Course Outline

Course learning includes:

  • Define confined space using Safe Work Australia definition
  • WHS legislation and code of practice for hazard analysis
  • Workplace policies and procedures
  • Understand and recognise various work permits required for different situations
  • Overview of regulations and legislative requirements
  • Plan and prepare for working in confined space
  • Prepare for gas testing
  • Test gas
  • Identify, monitor and control hazards in accordance with procedures
  • Entrapment procedures, irrespirable atmosphere
  • Establish and maintain communication with appropriate personnel
  • Breathing apparatus
  • Work in confined space
  • Monitor work for compliance
  • Exit confined space
  • Clean and inspect equipment
  • Receive end of day report
  • Close work permit

Theory Assessment includes:

  • Formative assessment – students will be provided with an assessment paper containing a range of questions, including multiple choice, true and false, matching description and student expected responses.

Practical Assessments includes:

  • Scenario and task demonstrations:
    • Enter and work in confined spaces, including:
      • Horizontal entry into a confined space
      • Vertical entry in a confined space
      • Receive end of day report (vertical entry scenario only)
    • Complete two Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA)/Safe Work Methods Statement (SWMS) forms for each scenario
    • Complete and obtain two Confined Space entry permits

Certificate Revalidation

Confined Space Rescue course set qualification is required to the revalidated every two years.

The course cost is $599p/p with full payment required for confirmation of course booking. Payments can be made online, by cash, direct deposit, or credit card. Alternatively, we offer PayPal and Afterpay payments online.
