This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to participate in rescue operations as a member of a rescue team; it underpins specialist rescue operations. This includes a wide range of rescue and environmental situations which may incorporate industrial, rural, bush and extreme environmental conditions.

Typically, personnel performing these roles have completed induction or recruitment training and are commencing work as a member of an operational team. They will work under supervision in a team but may be responsible for completing singular tasks relating to a rescue.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for enrolment in this course. However, requires good physical fitness.

Entry Requirements

This course does require reading, writing and numeracy skills. To access the specific LLN form, students will prompted to complete the necessary pre-course assessments in the Allens Training student portal upon registration.

All students who enrol in this course must possess a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number with them.

To obtain a USI, please head to www.usi.gov.au and register. The process takes around 4 min to complete.

PUASAR022 – Participate In A Rescue Operation

5th Point offers the nationally recognised PUASAR022 – Participate In A Rescue Operation unit of competency, in a one-day course, to businesses and individuals. Fully certified TAE Trainers with relevant industry experience deliver the course materials, ensuring that a wealth of experience underpins the training that we offer. Training and assessment delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.

420 minutes – including a theory assessment and practical assessment

Course Outline

Course learning includes:

  • Regulatory framework
  • Identify rescue operations
  • Roles and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Workplace policies and procedures
  • Prepare and respond to rescue
  • Contribute to risk assessment at the scene
  • Perform rescue
  • Conclude rescue operations

Theory Assessment includes:

  • Formative assessment – students will be provided with an assessment paper containing a range of questions, including multiple choice, true and false, matching description and student expected responses.

Practical Assessments includes:

  • Respond to the two simulated rescue scenarios as selected by the Assessor:
    • Scenario one – Participate in a vertical rescue
    • Scenario two – Participate in a confined space rescue
  • Complete documentation:
    • Rescue Equipment form
      • Risk Assessment and Incident Report Form

Certificate Revalidation

Participate In A Rescue Operation qualifications are recommended to the revalidated every one – three years.
